Student teacher Denise Coll who is currently undertaking a Professional Master of Education in Art and Design with Digital Media at Limerick School of Art and Design is on school placement at Our Lady’s College. Denise is piloting an innovative short course aimed at introducing and recognising Performance Art as an art form in second level education. Second year students will create a response to an artwork through performance following a group visit to The Headless City, TULCA 2016.
The study aims to investigate how student’s knowledge of performance art can be generated through the making of a collaborative performance art piece. By examining how the process of responding to a performance art work can be documented digitally and in doing so pose questions as to why this art form is currently not part of the curriculum and to investigate potential ways as to how it could be conducted.
Our Lady’s College Galway is delighted to be part of this collaborative partnership and wish Denise every success in her studies and look forward to seeing our students’ art work.
