Our Lady’s College Rowing Club is affiliated to Galway Rowing Club. We have students participating at J14, J16 & J18 levels. All our first years have been training on ergometers in N.U.I.G. as part of the “Get Going, Get Rowing” challenge which is organized by Jen Cunningham, Connacht Rowing Development Officer. This initiative prepares our students in rowing techniques in advance of them taking to the water. Recently 20 students took part in the Trinity Rowing Blitz where the T.Y. students took on the role of coaches.
Basketball practice takes place twice weekly in our PE Hall and all are welcome. We are delighted to have a Graduate Scholarship Student in NUIG, helping out in training and coaching our teams. This is organised through the Sport Changes Lives Programme.
Our Cadette Volleyball team are also training hard and are already competing in inter school competitions. Practice takes place every Wednesday in our PE hall 3.30pm – 4.30pm
We are delighted to announce that Our Lady’s College Galway Senior debating team has begun this year with promise. The girls enjoy passionately arguing ideas from various points of view and are looking forward to taking part in various upcoming competitions both locally and nationally.
Our school library is well stocked and open to students twice weekly at lunchtime. The library is run by the students themselves and there is a huge variety of books from fiction to classics. A quiet place for students to relax.
Our first and second years enjoy card making at lunchtime producing beautiful handmade cards for family and friends.
Our Lady’s College Galway School Choir, comprising students from 1st to 6th Year, provides an opportunity for students who have a passion for singing. There are no auditions. The only requirement is a genuine love of singing and a willingness to work hard.
